Facebook opens first international engineering centre in London

The sun rises behind the entrance sign to Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park before the company's IPO launch, May 18, 2012. REUTERS/Beck DiefenbachLONDON (Reuters) - Facebook's first engineering centre outside the United States opened in London on Tuesday, boosting the British government's ambition to make the digital economy a central plank of its growth strategy.
The company's vice-president of engineering, Mike Schroepfer, said that London is "rapidly emerging as a global technology hub", providing access to the best engineers and a place where other talented engineers would be willing to relocate.
The London team will develop products to improve the Facebook experience on mobile devices and perform work on the social network's platform, Schroepfer said.
Developing mobile products is a priority for Facebook. The social network crossed the billion threshold this month, but it has struggled to make money from the growing numbers of people accessing its services on smartphones.
British finance minister George Osborne, who attended the opening in Covent Garden, central London, said that Facebook's move highlighted the attractiveness of the city for technology businesses.
"I hope it also reflects something of the work we have done as a government over the last couple of years to make this a go-to place for technology businesses," he added.
Osborne said the government had taken a range of measures including better computer science teaching, the expansion of superfast broadband and the improved availability of government data to apps developers.
Facebook's initial 12-strong team is headed by engineer Philip Su, who relocated from Seattle, site of the company's first engineering centre outside California. Su said that he has already recruited a handful of people locally.

What Is The Deepest Lake In The World?

Lakes typically aren’t thought of as deep and many would incorrectly assume that one of the Great Lakes holds the spot for the deepest – after all, they were carved out by glaciers during the last ice age. So if one of the Great Lakes isn’t the deepest, which lake is?
The Deepest Lake In The World
The current title holder is Lake Baikal of Siberia in Russia. It’s over a mile deep (5,387 feet) and is also the most voluminous fresh water lake on Earth containing nearly 20% of the world’s unfrozen fresh water.
Its incredible depth was created when Earth’s crust was pulled apart due to tectonic activity and created a rift. This ‘gap’ was eventually filled with fresh water. The lake is estimated to have been created over 25 million years ago which makes it also the world’s oldest. Because of the depth, clarity and remoteness, researchers will be deploying a ‘neutrino telescope’ in the lake. At a dept of almost .7 miles will lie the Baikal Deep Underwater Neutrino Telescope (BDUNT). It will consist of separate 192 optical modules
The silver medal goes to Lake Tanganyika, located in Africa, which is also a rift lake. It is .93 miles deep at its deepest and like Lake Baikal, is also a rift lake.
Deepest Lake In The United States?
The Great Lakes still don’t hold a candle to Crater Lake. Crater lake is a caldera lake located in southern Oregon. It is nearly 2,148-foot deep and is known for its incredible clarity.
crater lakeThe lake was formed inside a dormant volcano caldera and it is believed that it took 720 years for rain and snow to fill it to its current depth because no rivers or tributaries are connected to it. It is also the reason for it’s unusual clarity which was measured by scientists at 142 feet in 1997.
Crater Lake is also known for the “Old Man of the Lake”, a full-sized tree which is now a stump that has been bobbing vertically in the lake for over 100 years.

Underwater Robots Track Sharks Off US in a First

University of Delaware researchers catching a sand tiger shark, before inserting a tag in the animal that allows them to track it.
An underwater robot is helping to track sand tiger sharks off the East Coast of the United States.
It's the first time a device like this has been used to find and instantly report where sharks hang out and migrate to, according to a release from the University of Delaware, whose researchers are behind the project.
The robot looks like a yellow torpedo and is a type of glider typically used to test the chemistry of ocean waters. The research team installed acoustic receivers on the robot that can find and read tags that have  been placed on sharks, and immediately relay that information to the researchers back on land via wireless signals.
This summer, the researchers, led by Matthew Oliver at the University of Delaware, caught sharks up to 9 feet (3 meters) in length and inserted a new type of tag in the animals that will provide more information than ever before. Called VEMCO mobile transceivers (VMTs), these tags can both transmit and receive information to communicate their location and listen for the "pings" of other sharks, fish or marine mammals outfitted with acoustic tags.
"It will tell us not only where it is, but who it's with," Oliver said.

Determination is the most significant attribute of a believer. A believer never loses his enthusiasm and devotion. He engages in his struggle only to earn the pleasure of God. That is why, no difficulty proves to be a hindrance to his endeavours. His only goal is to deserve the favour of his Lord; and he shapes his life accordingly.
God certainly puts the determination of believers to the test in various ways; either by periodically giving them trouble or making them undergo suffering. Details of the test are given in the verse below:
We shall test you with fear and hunger, with loss of life and property and crops but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere. (Al-Baqara, 155)
However, a believer with total commitment displays his patience under all circumstances.
God praises this attitude of believers in the following verse:
How many of the prophets fought (in God's way), and with them (fought) large bands of godly men? But they never lost heart if they met with disaster in God's way, nor did they weaken (in will) nor give in. And God loves those who are firm and steadfast. Their only words were: "Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything We may have done that transgressed our duty; make us firm of foot and help us against those that resist faith." (Al-Imran, 146-147)
Lack of commitment, on the other hand,

Believers’ love for one another

Love is one of the greatest blessings Allah has bestowed on humanity. Allah has created human nature in such a way that a person will take pleasure from loving and being loved, from friendship and from intimacy. Being with people who live by the moral values of the Qur’an, enjoying love and friendship with them, brings a believer greater pleasure than many other blessings. Therefore, the Paradise that Allah has promised to His servants whom He loves and with whom He is well pleased is a place of extraordinary beauty in which true love, friendship and intimacy will be experienced with enormous joy for ever. The information Allah provides about the life of Paradise in the Qur’an, always refers to joy, friendship, love, conversation, pleasing words and peace. Everything that might prove an obstacle to love and friendship has been kept far removed from the people of Paradise. In one verse, for example, Allah has revealed that He will strip away any rancour in the hearts of the companions of Paradise (Surat al-A‘raf, 43). All vices that might represent an obstacle to love and friendship, such as jealousy, enmity, rivalry, anger, discord and touchiness, will be excluded from Paradise.
One of the main characteristics of Muslims, who have been

Relationships are like trees. Now what does this mean?

Have you ever been to any orchard? I am sure we all have seen at least a few of them like orange, mango, cashew, coconut, chiku and many more. Did you notice friends, how these trees are planted? There is always a gap between any two grown up trees. Every tree needs some space to grow properly. It needs the right amount of light, soil, water, mineral and loving hands of a farmer. When all these needs are being taken care of well then only the tree grows the way the farmer wants it to be.

Similarly, all relationships too need some space to grow. They also need right amount of all ingredients including love and affection to take a proper shape, any relationship is like the four pillars of a temple. They are together, but they cant come very close to each other and if they do so, the walls of the temple would fall off, it would collapse. So friends, all relationships need a proper space to grow!

1. Once, all villagers decided to pray for rain, on the day of prayer all the People gathered but only one boy came with an umbrella...

2. When you throw a baby in the air, she laughs because she knows you will catch her...

3.Every night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the next Morning but still we set the alarms in our watch to wake up...

4. We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future or having any certainty of uncertainties

5. We see the world suffering. We know there is every possibility of same or similar things happening to us. But still we get married??...

Guidance Concerning Sleep

Guidance Concerning Sleep

There are beneficial and harmful methods of sleep. Our body should not be burdened with oversleeping or by excessive eating. The Prophet (A.S.) did not oversleep or deprive his body of necessary sleep, making his method in this regard the most perfect.

The best method of sleep is for one to sleep on his right, so that the food stays in the stomach comfortably and in this position the food in easily passed out of the stomach to the next organ of digestion. Sleeping on the left for a few moments can help stomach lean on the liver and help in producing liver enzymes. However, if one sleep on left for longer time the heart is affected, as it has to bear the weight of the other organs for which it needs more blood to do its usual function.

Worse method of sleep is when sleeping on the stomach. No scientific reason is given but hippocrates said that sleeping on stomach testifies to the weakness in thought or that he is suffering from stomach pain.
